Our Space

58 Flaxley Road is not just a building. 58 Flaxley Road is the people that visit and the residents that come to think of it as a safe and welcoming haven. 58 Flaxley Road represents the opportunities of having a community-owned space that responds to local priorities.
Our Space is home to a volunteer-run community café, Selby Pulse Radio, Working For Health CIC, and projects run by and for the local community. These include a support group for adults facing challenges in their lives, a youth club, a school holiday doodle club, ‘knit and natter’ groups, and a lunch club. We also run projects with regional and national funding to provide unique opportunities for the local community. We work with a wide variety of partner organisations based in Selby and beyond to reach as many residents as possible and make sure that our community can reach its full potential.

Meet the Team

Alice Prince
Coordinator
I’ve worked exclusively in the third sector for 16 years, or 20 if you include my early volunteering. I’ve always recognised the importance of community connection and the opportunities it brings to those who feel like something is missing. It’s my aim to help facilitate those opportunities here at Our Space.
I enjoy playing both tabletop and video games, have a huge passion for all creative arts, and love a pub quiz.
Connie Jordan-Turner
Community Engagement Officer
I moved to Selby five years ago and have been working in community engagement and outreach ever since. From my work for Up For Yorkshire and Everyday Enable, I know that community voice is more important than ever in shaping local priorities. My role is to continue helping residents have a say in Our Space’s programmes, what we deliver, and get involved in projects that matter to them.
In my spare time, I love to read and am part of a local reading group in Selby. I love listening to music and watching women’s football on TV.
